From the Syracuse Stage Web Site:
Imagine a time when new ideas are reviled. Imagine a place where teaching innovative
science is a criminal offense. Think America. Think the 1920s. Think of a school teacher imprisoned and facing
trial for daring to teach his students a controversial and unpopular theaory. Think of a preacher, dour and unyielding.
Think of the townspeople, outraged and indignant. Think of the prosecutor, grandstanding and glad-handing. Could
it be here? Could it be now? Then, imagine a champion, a defender of free speech, a proponent of vigorous intellectual
discourse. Imagine the trial. Imagine the odds. Imagine the verdict. Creation v. Evolution. Darwin v. the Bible.
